Used hardware for a test setup - Arduino Uno - ESP8266 module - 433MHz transmitter (http://www.hobbyelectronica.nl/product/433mhz-rf-ontvanger-zender-set/)

The test setup build with the above mentioned parts worked. The next step is to get rid of the Arduino and add an IR led so it can control my ampifier. When that is working I will try to build a cleaner setup and document it here.
